D.Y. Li

Dongyang Li is a Professor at Dept. of Chemical & Materials Eng., University of Alberta. His interests of research include tribo-materials and wear control, surfaces and interfaces, and computational materials science. Dr. Li received a B.Sc. in Solid Mechanics from University of Science and Technology China, a M.Sc. in Solid-State Physics from Sun Yat-sen University, a PhD in Materials Physics from University of Science and Technology Beijing, and a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from McGill University. Before joining University of Alberta in 1998, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Pennsylvania State University (1995–97). He was a NSERC industrial Chair in Wear of Materials (1998-2001), a visiting professor and visiting scientist at a number of foreign institutes, and the recipient of MetSoc 2020 Distinguished Materials Scientist Award and other honors & awards. Dr. Li is on the editorial board for seventeen technical journals. Dr. Li has in excess of 360 technical publications, including 320 journal publications. He is an invited contributor for authoritative handbooks (Elsevier, Springer, and ASM International). Dr. Li is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP).
