Anna Igual Muñoz is a Senior Scientist for chemical/electrochemical and tribological characterization of surfaces at the Materials Institute of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL-Switzerland). Her scientific interests are mainly focused on the understanding of the interacting phenomena on surfaces-environment contacts at multiscale. Her research includes the conception and development of tailored experiments and instruments capable of controlling mechanical, chemical and material factors in a tribological contact. She is also interested in developing theoretical tools for the understanding of the tribological behavior of complex systems and interacting phenomena with special emphasis on micro-mechanical and biological systems.
