Jörg Schöfer is head of the center of competence for tribology, lubrication and cavitation at Bosch Corporate Research in Renningen, Germany.

He is responsible for the strategic planning of research activities and the development of methodologies for tribological lifetime design. His career in tribology began at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin.

He joined Robert Bosch GmbH in 1999, where he has led projects in areas such as contact simulation (EHD), cavitation simulation (CFD), and DLC coatings. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe and is a member of the scientific advisory boards of the German Society for Tribology and of the tribology research field of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).
